Date: April 20-23, 2021
GM Geba and Mr. Reynante Dino, successfully completed a Four Day Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Training for Public Sectors last April 20-23, 2021. The said training was under the Office of Civil Defense, in coordination with OCD-CALABARZON and San Juan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council headed by Ms. Noralyn Nera.
The 4-Day Training was an intense but fruitful one. It involves different experts from DOST-PAGASA, DOST-PHIOLCS, DENR-MGB, DOH, BFP and PNP discussing related topics to Disaster Risk Reduction Management in a workplace. This was also done in connection with the NDRRM 10 year plan for the country, in response to Executive Order No. 159, Series 1968, mandating all heads of government agencies, including all corporations owned or controlled by the government, the armed forces, government hospitals, and public educational institutions toestablish their respective disaster control organizations.
In the event of an emergency or disaster occurring, the government is the main institution mandated to protect its jurisdiction. With that said, it is also mandated that they would be prepared on whatever hits them; and that their services would continue to do its functions regardless of any disruption that may occur.
The said training explained the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management System, Basic Disaster Concepts, Understanding Hazards and Assessing them, Organizing Disaster Control Groups using Incident Command System, Imagining Disasters and ensuring Safety in the workplace and lastly, ensuring a Public Service Continuity Plan. With this knowledge at hand, San Juan Water District has created its own Disaster Control Group (DCG). The SJWD-DCG will be composed of the following teams and their assigned leaders:

Said teams will conduct meetings to orient their respective members, discuss their responsibilities (before, during, and after a disastrous event or emergency), conduct risk assessment, and set their action plans. The action plans set by each team will form part of the Public Service Continuity Plan (PSCP) SJWD-DCG shall ensure that the office will participate with all the plans and programs of San Juan LGU, especially in times of crisis.
