Southern Tagalog Association of Water Districts (STAWD) held a productive dialogue with Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) Administrator Atty. Jose Moises F. Salonga to discuss key issues affecting water service delivery in the region. The meeting, spearheaded by STAWD Chairman Atty. Vicente M. Joyas, STAWD President and Candelaria Water District General Manager Ms. Mary Ann V. Alvarez, and STAWD Secretary and San Juan Water District General Manager, Ms. Edith Joyce Sagaral-Geba.

Together with Administrator Salonga, they engaged in meaningful discussions focused on strengthening the operations and sustainability of water districts in Southern Tagalog. Among the key topics tackled were right-of-way challenges with agencies such as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Philippine National Railways (PNR); the restructuring of loans for water districts involved in joint venture agreements (JVAs); proposals for water rate adjustments; and the increase in per diem rates for members of the Boards of Directors of local water districts.
Administrator Salonga reiterated LWUA’s continued support for local water districts and emphasized the agency’s commitment to ensuring more efficient, responsive, and sustainable water services for communities across the Southern Tagalog region.
