No goodbyes but see you soon…
The new year ushered in a slew of goodbyes for San Juan Water District. The first one started with the retirement of former General Manager, Lilian P. Alcantara. Mrs. Alcantara started out as part of the Board of Directors under the Education Sector from 2001-2010, before she was appointed as General Manager in 2010. She held that position up to her retirement last December 31, 2020. She may be a known toughie at work, but she is a real softie when it comes to the needs of everyone in the district.
SJWD also said goodbye to its former Division Manager, Deo Medel B. Magpantay. An epitome of being calm, cool and collected, Mr. Magpantay was a big part of San Juan Water District for the past 27 years. He started out as a Meter Reader / Bill Collector on March 1, 1993, and worked his way up to being Acting Chief Commercial to Customer Service Assistant to Water Utilities Development Officer until landing the Division Manager position which he held from January 1, 2014 until his retirement last December 1, 2020.
Lastly, SJWD bids adieu to its former Chairman of the Board, Dra. Myrna C. Salud; our office’s official prayer warrior and also a second mother to everyone in the district. The soft-spoken Dra. Salud is always armed with a cheery smile and is always there to give advice to everyone who needs it. She was appointed to represent the Professional Sector on January 6, 2003 up to December 31, 2020 and had served three consecutive terms.
Due to the current pandemic, the district was not able to host a big Thanksgiving Party for them but held a mini ceremony for them inside the office for everyone’s safety. The office gave the three of them plaques of appreciation, a gift token and a box of thank you letters from the employees. SJWD is forever grateful to these individuals for their hard work, dedication and endless love. We would not be where we are right now without their shared effort, persistence and passion.
When one chapter ends, another one begins…
San Juan Water District welcomed Mrs. Edith Joyce S. Geba as their new General Manager last January 4, 2021. Mrs. Geba was appointed after the retirement of former GM Lilian P. Alcantara. Mrs. Geba was part of the Board of Directors, representing the Sector for Women’s Organizations since 2017.
Before her stint as Board of Director for San Juan Water District, she was handling their family businesses, her own salon and was very active in socio-civic activities. She was also a former Barangay Councilor from 2007-2010 and was the Barangay Chairperson from 2010 to 2013 of Barangay Janaojanao, San Juan, Batangas.
We are excited and anticipating for new and innovative things for SJWD under Mrs. Geba’s leadership.
